Lotto Foundation was the silver sponsor of the SOYA Awards 2017. The
SOYA Awards is an annual ceremony founded by Mr.Paul Tergat who is
a renowned athlete and sports ambassador to reward the sports men
and women who have excelled in their respective fields.

As Silver Sponsor of the SOYA (Sports Personality of the Year) Awards 2016, Lotto Foundation showed further commitment to communities and sport in Kenya, two of our four key mandates. We believe that sports initiatives, especially at the grassroots level, can positively impact communities both socially and economically. We are committed to supporting all manner of sporting endeavors as a way of encouraging our youth to pursue sports as a viable and rewarding career option.

The legendary track runner turned national sport ambassador, Mr. Paul Tergat, founded the SOYA Awards in 2004 to reward sportsmen and sportswomen who have excelled in their respective field. An annual ceremony is held to celebrate these rising sporting stars. The theme this year revolved around inspiring greatness, with a clear moral message for the sporting fraternity – “Say No to Doping”.

Lotto Foundation chairman, Mr Brian Waluchio said that “It was great to see many secondary schools nominated as we need to encourage the young people to pursue their sporting talents to the highest level”. The Foundation gave a grant of Ksh 3,000,000.
